The Den is a beautifully decorated terraced cottage on a working farm, in the village of High Hawsker between Whitby and the beautiful Robin Hood’s Bay. The quaint village of Hawsker is a perfect spot for people wishing to enjoy the natural beauty of the North York Moors, the stunning Yorkshire coastline and the Cinder Track which runs from Hawsker down to Robin Hood’s Bay.
With the bustling fishing town of Whitby just a couple of miles down the road, this cottage is perfect for enjoying the sights, sound and smells whilst benefiting from the peacefulness of your surroundings. Whitby has something going on all year round from Folk Festivals, the Regatta, Goth Weekend and many other festivals and events making it an ideal destination throughout the year. There is a mix of old and new with the famous Whitby Abbey stood towering over the town and famous for its 199 steps leading down onto Church Street with its cobbled lane and boutiques selling everything from ice cream to Whitby Jet. There are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, olde worlde bars and live music. There are 3 miles of golden sandy beach to enjoy from Whitby up to the beautiful bay of Sandsend or take a trip out on a leisure craft in search of dolphins and whales.
This is also the perfect place to make as your base for exploring the North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Heritage Coast. Travel by steam train into the heart of ‘Heartbeat’ country or take a fishing trip out to sea on one of the many boat trips that leave the harbour. The Cleveland Way snakes along the coast and is a must for those who enjoy the great outdoors. Robin Hood’s Bay and Runswick Bay are just some of the highlights along the coast, whilst the medieval walled city of York is just an hours’ drive or train ride away. Beach 2 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
