Hayesland Lodge is a detached barn with its own private garden and terrace, sat in the owners grounds looking across the Tillingham Valley. It is attractively furnished throughout with a well thought out, bespoke, solid oak kitchen and exposed beams. You can enjoy many walks directly from the doorstep, with the cinque port town of Rye only 5 miles away. Residing in the High Weald, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you can visit the Brede High Woods, 646-acres of ancient woodland with hundreds of walking trails. If you’re lucky, you might even hear the nightingale sing, or spot some fallow dear or dormouse on your adventures. Beckley Woods has many well-surfaced woodland tracks, and there is a further nature reserve at Rye Harbour. Fishing available locally (licence required).
The medieval town of Rye parted company with the sea several centuries ago and has a fascinating smuggling past, waiting to be discovered. Stroll amongst its cobbled streets, where there are art galleries, tea rooms, shops and fine restaurants. Camber Sands has miles of golden sand dunes where you can have a go at kitesurfing! There are many great days out for the whole family including the vineyards at Sedlescombe, a fairytale castle at Bodiam, a trip through the countryside on the Kent and Sussex railway or Battle Abbey. This property is in a central hub for National Trust properties, and is also a great base for visiting Great Dixter and Sissinghurst (both ideal for gardening enthusiasts). Beach 7 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
