The kitchen/dining area is spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. There are two bedrooms, one twin and one double, both with en-suite shower rooms. There are also amazing views of the surrounding hills and forest from almost every room in the Cottage. Glen Way cottage really has a lovely, peaceful setting, it’s a place you can truly relax in. Called Glen Way Cottage after the Great Glen which is the valley from Inverness to Fort William in which Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal can be found. It’s also well known for the Great Glen Way hiking trail which passes near to the cottage. For those interested in a longer pause while walking the Great Glen Way, this cottage is the perfect spot to rest, recharge and explore some of the local area.
Being based in Drumnadrochit is an excellent choice for those wanting to get to know the area and explore some outstanding Highland scenery. Drumnadrochit is a hub on Loch Ness from which you can get out by boat to tour the shores and hopefully spot Nessie. There are interesting places right round the loch that you should visit, these include: Fort Augustus with its Caledonian Canal lock staircase, Foyers for the famous waterfall, Dores (pronounced ’Doors’) where there’s a fantastic Inn overlooking a sweeping pebble beach, and last but not least Urquhart Castle which stands sentinel near to Drumnadrochit. Drumnadrochit is also a great base for Glen Affric, only a half hour drive north up Glen Urquhart. Regarded as Scotland’s most attractive glen, Glen Affric has a Caledonian pine forest still intact and many celebrated waterfalls to hike to, including the amazing Plodda Falls. The Affric Kintail Way, another amazing local trail- starts/finishes in Drumnadrochit and its route goes through Glen Affric and joins up with the west coast of Scotland. Glen Way Cottage makes a great stop at the beginning or end of the Affric Kintail Way to either get ready for the hike or rest and recharge at the end. Further afield from Glen Way Cottage you can reach Fort William and the trailhead to Ben Nevis in 45 minutes. You can be at the Skye Bridge in just over an hour. And the Highland capital Inverness is only 20 minutes away. You’re in a superb location in Drumnadrochit.
